Community Survey Summary

Community Survey Summary

During  the summer and fall  of 2010, Benefis Teton Medical Center participated in a Community Health Services Development (CHSD) project funded by the Montana Health Research and Education Foundation (MHREF).

The philosophy behind the project:

  • Health care is a local affair.
  • Health care delivered in rural communities is necessary to the good health of the entire community.
  • Citizens of rural communities/counties should take responsibility for the health of the community.
  • Effective problem-solving by communities is the most important factor in the survival of rural health services.

The survey was sent to a random sample of 779 Teton County households. There were 249 (32%) responses.

    What we found out:

    • BTMC received an average overall services rating between “good” and “excellent.”
    • 71.9% felt that Choteau is a “healthy” or “very healthy” place to live.
    • 73.7% said local health care services are very important to the economic well being of the community.
    • BTMC’s top health services were physical therapy and x-ray.

    What some respondents said:

“Benefis Teton Medical Center provides excellent care. I wish others would try it and support it.”

“The lab is great! You can get right in and people are helpful and explain procedures.”

“It’s amazing the amount and type of equipment they (BTMC) have.”
